Kejriwal promises 300 free units of power if AAP wins Punjab Assy polls

Chandigarh, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday promised 24-hour uninterrupted power supply and 300 units of free electricity to people in Punjab in case his party wins the 2022 Assembly polls.

Mr Kejriwal said the people will get 300 free units of electricity and charged only for consumption of over and above 300 units. In this way, if any of these beneficiaries consume 350 units in a month, then he will be charged for only 50 overstepped units. The remaining 300 units will be totally free.

He was accompanied by AAP state president and MP Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Affairs in-charge Jarnail Singh, co-in charge Raghav Chadha, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema, former IG and party leader Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh.

Mr Kejriwal was on a one-day visit to Chandigarh to make these big announcements for the people of Punjab as part of his first guarantee.

Addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club here, he made certain announcements regarding electricity; stating that it was a guarantee which will be fulfilled on the very first day of the AAP government; unlike tall promises of Captain Amarinder Singh, that were never honoured.

Kejriwal further announced that the disconnected electricity connections will be restored and all domestic power bill arrears or unpaid bills will be waived off after AAP assumes power in Punjab. He said that all existing electricity schemes will continue.
