Ranchi; In Jharkhand, for the direct appointment of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges, the minimum qualification is to have passed post-graduation with at least 55 percent marks and have a PhD degree. The state government has accepted the minimum qualification for teacher appointment as stipulated in the UGC Regulations 2018.
On Tuesday, the cabinet has also approved this. In Jharkhand, now this rule will be implemented from the date of issue of notification after the approval of the Governor.
It is expected that after getting approval from the Governor, this rule will be implemented from July 1, 2021. According to the new regulation, if a candidate is also a NET pass, then he will have to have a PhD degree.
Apart from this, conditional relaxation will also be given to PhD holders before July 11, 2009 as per UGC rules. For them the PhD dissertation of the candidate has been evaluated by at least two external examiners. An open oral examination of the candidate for PhD has been conducted. The PhD work has been published in two research papers.
At least one of which is published in a reference journal. Apart from this, research paper has been presented in the seminar. Preference will be given to the appointment of such candidates, who have excellent academic record. Master’s degree in the concerned subject with 55 per cent but an equivalent grade in the point scale where the grading system is applicable. The research paper should also be included in the UGC care list.
For promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Professor, PhD will be necessary. Apart from this, co-educational activities like NSS, NCC, cultural, leadership in social work, work in administrative positions, work related to examination, research guidance etc. will be added. For candidate promotion, teacher’s participation in seminar, symposium, lecture series etc., preparation of communication material by UGC itself, silent etc., journal of research paper, publication in book, academic experience etc. will also be included.
